This page explains what SplitZone keeps about you, why it keeps it, and what you can do about it.

Who is responsible

Justinas Greibus runs SplitZone and is responsible for your data.

Write to privacy@splitzone.cloud about anything on this page.

What we keep, and why

Your account

Your name, email address and Google account ID, which Google gives us when you sign up, and the username you choose. Your phone number if you add one, and your currency, time zone and language.

We use these to sign you in and to show you to the people in your groups.

Your groups and expenses

Group names and members, expenses, amounts, shares, categories, dates, notes, comments, attachments and payments.

This is the service itself: working out who owes whom.

Invitations

The email address of anyone invited to a group, including people who have no account.

We use it to send the invitation.

Sign-ins and security

The time, network address and browser of each sign-in, and a cookie that recognises your browser. The server also records technical logs, which can include network addresses.

We use these to show you your recent sign-ins, warn you about new devices, slow down attacks and fix faults.

Our legal reasons

We use your account, group and expense data because we need it to provide the service you signed up for (GDPR Article 6(1)(b)).

We use sign-in records, logs and invitations because of our legitimate interest in keeping accounts safe and in letting people invite each other (Article 6(1)(f)). You can object to this at any time.

Who can see it

The other members of a group can see that group: your name and username, and its expenses, comments, attachments and payments.

Google confirms who you are when you sign in. Google's own privacy policy applies to that step.

The company that hosts our server and the company that delivers our email handle data only to provide those services. Emails carry what they describe, such as a name and an amount.

SplitZone has no advertising and no analytics, and we do not sell your data.

How it is protected

Names, email addresses, amounts, notes, comments and attachments are encrypted before they are stored, and backups are encrypted too. Dates, currencies and the links between records are not, because the app needs them to work.

How long we keep it

  • Your account, groups and expenses: until you ask us to erase your account.
  • Sign-in records: 90 days.
  • Staying signed in: up to 14 days.
  • Spreadsheet exports: 7 days.
  • Email invitations stop working after 14 days. The address stays with the group's records until someone asks us to remove it.
  • Backups: 14 days.

If you ask us to erase your account

We remove your name, username, email address, phone number, Google account ID, sign-in history and the text of your comments.

Expenses, payments and attachments you shared stay in the group, shown as "Deleted user", because other people's balances depend on them.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct, erase, limit or move your data, and you can object to how we use it. Once signed in, you can download your data and edit your profile from your account page.

For anything else, write to privacy@splitzone.cloud. We answer within one month.

You can also complain to the data protection authority where you live or work.
